GAN EDEN: The Winemaker

Craig Winchell has been the CEO and winemaker of Yayin Corp. (producer of GAN EDEN wines) since the inception of the winery in 1985. Prior to his involvement in GAN EDEN, Craig produced Viña Vista and Tucker Cellars wines at their respective wineries.

Craig is at present the only permanent employee at Yayin Corp. He, his wife, and their 6 children live in Sebastopol on the winery property.

Picture: Craig sampling a glass of his 1986 Cabernet Sauvignon in 1988, before the bottling of the wine which put GAN EDEN on the map. People still call us about the '86 Cabernet. It sold at the 1990 Sonoma County Wine Auction for $450 per case, which was the last case of this wine shipped from this winery. You may still be able to find it in some backwoods locations (perhaps Atlanta?).
